Easements

Applicants for power must sign a utility easement prior to the construction of power lines on their property. A utility easement gives North East Mississippi Electric Power Association (NEMEPA) the right to enter upon the land owned by the applicant and the right to construct, reconstruct, rephase, repair, operate, and maintain the power line or lines located on the applicant’s property. Additionally, it gives NEMEPA the right to cut, trim, and control the growth by chemical means, machinery, or otherwise, of trees and shrubbery located within distances specified on the easement. The easement also allows attachment of other systems such as telephone, fiber, and cable tv to NEMEPA’s poles.

A utility easement is required in all cases and for all applicants.
